As of November, 2010, TrailPhotos website design has been updated to streamline the page navigation somewhat, and to present larger typeface for easier reading. In addition, a TrailPhoto Gallery section has been added with links from thumbnail photos on that page to Extra Large sample photos, so the images will really pop out on your screen:

We are pleased to offer the first group of 12 completed TrailPhoto Guides available for viewing free preview pages, and for acquisition of the complete guides at Scribd.com, an on-line electronic document service.

These northern California TrailPhoto Guides contain individual trail descriptions, including area maps with directions to trailheads, color photos of various scenic highlights all along the trails, and topographic maps of the trails with detailed locations of the photographs along these trails. These files can be accessed through Scribd.com on your computer for viewing on screen, and for printing out in full color or black and white.

The first set of completed TrailPhoto Guides is divided among the Lake Tahoe area, the eastern Sierra range just northeast of Yosemite National Park, and the East Bay of the San Francisco Bay Area, with four TrailPhoto Guides from each of these areas. Many more will be coming, with preview photos of over 90 trails already available on this website.

The first few TrailPhoto Scenes are also available for viewing, including a complete, free sample, and for acquisition of other completed trail scenes at Scribd.com. The TrailPhoto Scenes focus on the photographs taken along the trail as their main emphasis. These contain the same maps as their corresponding TrailPhoto Guides, but offer full sized photos showcased against black page backgrounds instead of the smaller photos embedded in the trail descriptions as displayed in the Guides. TrailPhoto Scenes are meant for people who prefer to view larger size photos, at better resolution, as a way to explore these trails.

The first two digital TrailPhoto Vignette files from TrailPhotos.com are also now available on Scribd.com. These files each include 2 TrailPhoto Vignettes near the Lake Tahoe and eastern Sierra areas of northern California. Each of the Vignette files include :

a landscape photograph file sized to print out on 8 1/2" x 11" paper;
a set of maps showing the location and a terrain map depiction of the area, including a description of the area and directions to the site;
a topographic map file close-up of the area where the photograph was taken, showing its specific location, the direction of the photograph view, and overview information on nearby trails and campgrounds, with web site links for further details.

These files also can be viewed on screen, and printed in full color or black and white. The Vignettes now available (two vignettes per file) are :

Donner Lake, off Interstate 80, plus Faith Valley, off Highway 88 (Tahoe area);
Sinnamon Valley, off Highway 395 in the Virginia Lakes area (eastern Sierra), plus Wrights Lake, off Highway 50 (Lake Tahoe area).
